FREE home insulation scheme - Ends soon!
Published on 9th October 2012
There is no better time to take advantage of a Council-backed scheme which offers FREE home insulation to Suffolk residents. However, time is running out to get your application in!
By getting your home fully up to spec with cavity wall insulation and the recommended 12 inches (30cm) of loft insulation, your home can be warm as toast next winter. According to figures from the Energy Saving Trust, cavity wall insulation can typically reduce fuel bills by £135 per year, whilst loft insulation typically can reduce bills by £175 per year.
As part of our ambition to make Suffolk the Greenest County, the County and District / Borough Councils of Suffolk are working with accredited and trusted local companies to promote the installation of this heavily funded insulation to all residents in Suffolk. Waveney District Council is part of a Suffolk-wide initiative seeking to raise awareness of the scheme. The funding is currently available through the Carbon Emission Reduction Targets (CERT) programme set by the Government. However, this is coming to an end this year and applications MUST be in by October 31.
Cllr Sue Allen, Waveney's Cabinet Member for Housing said: "Over a quarter of homes in Suffolk do not have adequate cavity wall or loft insulation and residents may be paying more to heat their home than is necessary. So please pick up the phone and get the maximum benefits from this scheme before winter takes a hold and the funding is no longer available."
