Tourists are getting a great welcome

Suffolk's top three rated tourist information centres (TICs) are provided by Suffolk Coastal and Waveney according to the latest mystery shopper survey carried out by Visit England.
Aldeburgh's and Southwold's TICs shared top place with a rating of 95.31 per cent, while Felixstowe was third with 88.68 per cent and all five of the districts' TICs were in the top six of the 11 in Suffolk.
"This is an excellent result and it is somehow fitting that the top place should be shared between two our TICs given that our tourism teams are now shared across our two districts so we can provide a better and more efficient service to visitors and residents alike," said Cllr Geoff Holdcroft, Suffolk Coastal's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Economic Development.
"For us it is particularly pleasing to see Aldeburgh score so well after we took the decision to relocate and reorganise the TIC. It is great to see that our change has proved so successful when put to the test by mystery shoppers," added Cllr Holdcroft.
Each year mystery shoppers on behalf of Visit England test out the customer experience at all of the country's TICs and report back on what they have found, rating them for how helpful the staff have been and the range and quality of the information on offer.
"Our network of TICs is important in our efforts to promote our two districts as a destination for visitors. Tourism is a key part of our economies, with over £500 million generated each year and around one in ten of all jobs," said Cllr Bruce Provan, Waveney's Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism and Economic Development.
"We are continuing to strengthen our online tourism information so that people can find out about the unique attractions of our two districts at the touch of a button but TICs still have a key role to play in offering that human and helpful advice and information to those that want it," added Cllr Provan.
The two Councils provide TICS at Aldeburgh, Felixstowe, Lowestoft, Southwold and Woodbridge, and each office is stocked with a wide range of information and leaflets to help people plan their holiday, with friendly and professional staff to offer advice on how to make the most of a stay on the Suffolk Coast.
TICs offer accommodation information and booking, events and what's on information, as well as details about local, regional and national attractions. They also stock a good range of books and maps of the local area and a selection of souvenirs and gifts.
