Love Your Local Market Fortnight

The market towns in Waveney play host to a number of farmers markets throughout the district presenting an excellent opportunity to discover and purchase local products direct from the source.

With a growing interest in food providence, local farmers markets are a great way to find out about local, sustainable and organic food production.

Beccles, 1st and 3rd Saturdays in the month, 9.00am - 1.00pm, Beccles Heliport, Ellough Airfield, NR34 7UH

Halesworth, 2nd Saturday in the month, 9.00am - 1.00pm, The Old Print Works, off the Thoroughfare, IP19 8AP

Southwold, every Friday morning, 9.00am - 12.30pm, Adnam's Cellar & Kitchen Store, Draymans Court, off Victoria Street, IP18 6GB


A number of weekly markets also take place with the district, selling a variety of everyday goods

Finally, a number of Country Markets are run within the district. These small produce market are run locally under the umbrella of Country Markets Ltd, a membership-based co-operative social enterprise that enables members to sell their home-made, home-grown and hand-crafted products direct.

Powerboat Racing

Racing is in three different classes and there is a full, live commentary in Nicholas Everitt Park.

Powerboat racing started on Oulton Broad over 100 years ago. Most races are on Thursday evenings in the summer when there will usually be a minimum of nine races which can be viewed from the Nicholas Everitt Park in Oulton Broad.

By road: Oulton Broad is two to three miles inland from Lowestoft . Follow the brown tourist signs which will lead you to the town centre where you will find plenty of car parking.

Car parking: A large pay and display car park is accessible from Bridge Road, a second smaller car park is located to the rear of the Harbour Master's office and is accessible from the High Street. Limited short-term free parking can be found at The Crescent to the front of the main entrance into to the park.

Accessible by Public Transport: Oulton Broad North station.
