Police and Crime Commissioner Elections were held for the first time on Thursday, 15th November 2012.
A 'Police and Crime Commissioner' was elected for each Police Force Area in England and Wales (excluding London). Waveney is part of the Suffolk Police Force Area and electors in Waveney voted for a Police Commissioner for Suffolk.

Stephen Baker, Joint Chief Executive of Waveney and Suffolk Coastal District Councils, was the Suffolk 'Police Area Returning Officer' (PARO) and was responsible for running the election in Suffolk.

How to vote in this election
For the Police and Crime Commissioner Election the voting system used is different to other elections. The voting system for this election is called the 'Supplementary Vote' system and gives electors the opportunity to make a first choice vote and a second choice vote on their ballot paper.
