Appointments to committees

At the Annual Council meeting on 23 May 2012 Council agreed its Committee Structure and membership of them under a Conservative led administration for the Municipal year covering the period May 2012/13. 

Since 1 July 2012 the functions and responsibilities of the former Standards Committee were absorbed by the Audit & Risk Management Committee but the word Standards was retained and incorporate into the name of the newly constituted Committee when the new Standards regime came into effect as at that date. 

The result of Beccles South By Election on 15 November 2012 returned a Conservative Councillor to the seat that had previously been held by a Labour Councillor.  This changed the overall political composition of the Council necessiating a review of the political balance on Committees.  The changes to membership on the Committees was approved by Council on 21 November and are set out within the schedule of appointments.

Changes to the Membership of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Development Control Committee were approved by Council on 21 November 2012.  The names of the Councillors appointed to other Committee remains unchanged since the Annual Council Meeting in May 2012. 

Further changes were made to the membership of Committees following the disbandment of the Appointments Committee and the creation of the Joint Appointments Committee with Suffolk Coastal District Council at the Council meeting on 27 February 2013.  The effects of these changes are set out within the revised schedule of appointments.  

Membership of the reconstituted working groups to examine specific issues in depth prior to recommendations being submitted to the relevant decision-making body remains unchanged nor has Councillor representation on Outside Bodies.  The Leader of the Council has not made any changes to the number or names of the Cabinet Members in terms of their areas of responsiblity since the Annual Council meeting in May.
