District council elections
The Waveney District Council area is split up into 23 electoral areas called wards. The Council itself is made up of 48 seats, which means that some wards have more than one Councillor. This is because some areas have more people living in them than others, so they have more Councillors to represent them.
When are the next District Council Elections?
The Council has changed its electoral cycle so it will now hold elections for all of its 48 seats in the same year. This happened for the first time on 5th May 2011. All the Councillors that were elected on 5th May will hold their seats for four years until the next elections in 2015, unless they resign during that time.
