Waveney District Council

Council tax

Waveney is responsible for collecting Council Tax for the district, although the total amount collected is divided between Waveney, Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Police and Crime Commissioner and your town or parish council.

The money is used to provide local services such as education, social services, libraries, police, refuse and recycling collection, leisure centres - to name just a few.

The amount of Council Tax you have to pay (before any reductions) depends on the level of Council Tax set and the valuation band of your property.

Your property has been assessed for Council Tax in one of eight valuation bands (A-H) according to its estimated sale value at 1 April 1991:

 Band A - Up to £40,000  Band E - £88,001 to £120,000
 Band B - £40,001 to £52,000  Band F - £120,001 to £160,000
 Band C - £52,001 to £68,000  Band G - £160,001 to £320,000
 Band D - £68,001 to £88,000  Band H - More than £320,000

The allocation of the correct Council Tax bands to all homes in England and Wales is the responsibility of the Valuation Office Agency . You can appeal if you disagree with your Council Tax banding.
