Family Friendly Working Arrangements
Flexible working arrangements have been developed
in order to assist those with caring responsibilities to balance
the requirements of work and home. These are generally available to
all employees unless there are objective reasons why they cannot be
applied.
There are a variety of schemes on offer. These include a
generous maternity leave scheme, adoption leave, maternity support
leave, paternity leave, parental leave, time off for dependants,

Training & Development
As an organisation we are committed to the development of our
employees and elected members and are supportive of the provision
of learning and development opportunities in all areas.
Training may take place at any level, in any job and at any
stage in an employee's career. In accordance with the Council's

Through our Performance Management Scheme any training and
development needs identified are addressed and staff are encouraged
and often financially supported through both specialist and

organisation. This includes personal development, health and safety

Shortlisting
- The Human Resources Team ensure that the equal opportunity
monitoring forms are removed from the application forms before they
reach the short-listing panel.
- All applications received from Human Resources will be noted
and passed onto the direct line manager of the vacant post for
short-listing.
- The Job Description and Person Specification are used to draw
up the short-list.
Interviewing
- Normally a panel of three conducts interviews, and these will
usually be of a gender mix.
- We aim to advise prospective candidates of the interview date
in the job advert.
- Candidates may be required to complete a short test (e.g.
typing test) as well as the formal interview.
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)
Successful applicants for any post at Waveney District Council that
involve working with children or vulnerable adults will need to
complete a Disclosure Application Form.
A Disclosure is a document containing information held by the
police and government departments provided by the CRB. This process
enables the Council to check the background of job applicants to
ensure that they do not have a history that would make them
unsuitable.
The disclosure process enables the council to make informed
recruitment decisions and recruit more safely.
