What is a Local Plan?
A Local Plan sets out the policies which are used to make decisions
when people apply for planning permission and identifies sites for
future development.
Why two Local Plans?
The Interim Local Plan takes the opportunity to update the Adopted
Local Plan. It also takes account of changes in Government
policy since then, and looks forward to 2016. It is used for
development control purposes, as representing the Council's
emerging policies, alongside the existing Adopted Local
Plan. The Interim Local Plan did not go through the full
statutory process due to the desire to prepare the documents under
the new plan making system, the Local Development Framework as soon
as possible.
What happens next?
The Waveney Local
Plan is gradually being replaced by the
Local Development Framework. This will be used in the same way
as the Local Plan, but will be made up of a number of smaller
documents instead of one large Local Plan, enabling people to get
involved earlier in the plan making process.
