The Waveney Local Development Framework, looking to 2021, will gradually replace the Local Plan with a folder of local planning documents. The Waveney Local Development Framework and East of England Plan , which is prepared at the regional level, are the key documents to help guide and control development in the District.

Identifying Land for particular or a mix of uses.

Area Action Plan  
The Area Action Plan will provide focus on the regeneration and improvement of the Lake Lothing Area in Central Lowestoft.

Development in the District is also guided by the Broads Authority Local Development Framework , which is prepared by the Broads Authority to cover the Broads area within Waveney, and the Minerals and Waste Local Development Frameworks, which are prepared by Suffolk County Council.
