After careful consideration of all the potential sites, consultations were held on the preferred sites. Plans were available on the Waveney website and at local offices, libraries and at exhibitions across the District, where Planning Policy Officers were available on a number of days to discuss the preferred sites for future development.

Consultation on Lowestoft, Halesworth and Southwold & Reydon began on 17th November 2008 and ended on 12th January 2009. Consultation began on 24th October 2008 and ended on 12th December 2008.

Further Issues and Options (July 2007)

Following the publication of the initial issues and options consultation a number of additional sites were proposed as alternative sites. A Further Issues and Options document was published for 8-weeks consultation from July to September 2007. This document also sought views on options to meet the need for more burial land in Waveney, in particular in Lowestoft and Bungay. More than 230 individuals and organisations made over 700 comments during this further consultation.

Issues and Options (December 2006)

During an initial ‘Issues and Options’ consultation from December 2006 to February 2007, more than 800 individuals and organisations made over 3000 comments on sites suggested by landowners, developers, parish and town councils, the Council and others. Workshops took place during January and February 2007 to discuss sites in the Issues and Options documents.

A Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report has been prepared jointly for the Development Management Policies and Site Specific Allocations.
