Waveney District Council confirms that Ms Sally Spore has stepped down from her role as Mayor of Lowestoft.

The office of Mayor is granted to a member of the Lowestoft Charter Trustees, a group consisting of Waveney District Councillors in Lowestoft wards. Therefore, following her decision to stand down as a Councillor, Ms Spore must also relinquish her Mayoral title.

The Charter Trustees appoint a new Mayor on an annual basis each June and will do so again next month. This means that there will now be a brief interim period without a Mayor for Lowestoft.
