Following the success of the Sea Stallion and Mercedes
visiting the Lowestoft, Waveney District Council are pleased to
announce the arrival of the ‘Earthrace’ powerboat to Heritage Quay
from Friday 1st August to Sunday 3rd August
2008.

Earthrace has recently set a new
world record for a powerboat to circumnavigate the globe,
running 100% renewable biodiesel fuel, and with a net zero
carbon footprint. The amazing Earthrace boat started the
attempt on 27 April 2008 from Sagunto in Spain. After breaking
the world record June, Earthrace is continuing with a two year
promotional tour, visiting Europe, the Caribbean, US and
Australia, before returning home to New Zealand.
Lowestoft will be the first UK visit for the boat and crew of
Earthrace. Earthrace will be moored at Heritage quay from Friday at
10.00am. Locals and visitors will be able to view Earthrace and ask
the crew questions from 10am – 6pm on Saturday, times for Friday
and Sunday are to be confirmed.

Earthrace’s visit to Lowestoft has also been kindly sponsored by
the Hatfield Hotal. Nuno Francisco from the Hatfield said: ” It is
a great pleasure for the hotel to assist in bringing such a
fantastic vessel to to the town.
ASAP Marine suppliers in Beccles was one of the sponsors in
Earthrace run the world Voyage and have help secure the visit to
the town.
The 24m x 8m Earth race will be accessible for public viewing from
Friday.
