Waveney District Council is delighted to confirm that Park
Holidays UK Ltd are the chosen site operator for the North Denes
Caravan and Camping Site.
Having completed a rigorous selection process, and following the
shortlisting of two potential operators, the tender has been
awarded for a fee in excess of £1.5 million.
Cllr Stephen Ardley, Portfolio Holder for Health & Wellbeing
said: “Out of the two potential operators Park Holidays delivered a
fantastic proposal which met all our final criteria and timescales.
They have provided the best offer in terms of value and development
of the site and are a very well respected company in the
industry.
“Their redevelopment of the site will be comprehensive and work
will be undertaken with a strong commitment to making the North
Denes a premier park, recognised on a national basis. Not only will
the new site be a landmark for tourism, but they have also agreed
to provide a high standard modern play area which will be open to
the general public as well as users of the site. They will also be
responsible for the management and ongoing maintenance costs for
this area.”
Park Holidays UK Ltd, manage a range of caravan holiday sites in
Devon, Dorset, Sussex, Kent and Essex and already operate out of
Suffolk at Felixstowe Beach.
Cllr Ardley continued: “I have no doubt whatsoever that the future
of the North Denes is in safe hands and we now move a step closer
to the day when tourists and residents alike return to the area,
revitalising North Lowestoft and providing outstanding facilities
for us all to be proud of.”
When work gets underway, it will include the demolishing of old
toilet blocks, the installation of a new information
centre/shop/reception and the integration of toilet/shower and
changing facilities for the touring area.
Peter Bull of Park Holidays UK Ltd added: “We are delighted to be
working with Waveney District Council and look forward to providing
top class, nationally recognised facilities for residents and
visitors to the area.
“During the development works we will be carrying out extensive
landscaping in order to enhance the area and improve access. It is
my understanding that the public have enjoyed access through to the
seawall through various points on the North Denes area. It is our
intention to ensure that this continues.”
