To celebrate Lowestoft Town FC’s FA Vase campaign, Waveney District Council will be hosting a parade and civic reception and hope the whole town will come out in support the event.

Officials from WDC, Lowestoft Town FC, Beach radio, Lowestoft Town Management Partnership and Suffolk Police met on Wednesday night to put the plans in place.

The event will take place on Sunday 18th May 2007 and will start at 10.45am with the Players, coaching staff and boarding an open-top bus from Crown Meadow. The team will then take a route through Rotterdam Road and Denmark Road to arrive at Bevan Street for 11am.

The team will then be led by the 469 (Lowestoft) Squadron Air Training Corps marching band through the town centre. The Lowestoft Town Management partnership and Britten Centre are hoping to decorate the town Blue and White for the parade.

WDC would like to encourage as many locals to line the town centre to celebrate the team’s achievements should they win or lose. The parade will then stop at the Britten Centre where the team will address the crowds with the help of the Beach Bunny and Beach Radio. The parade will then carry on through the town to Milton Road East before going to the Town Hall for a civic reception hosted by the Chairman of WDC.

Darren Newman Waveney’s Service manager for Tourism said: “ This event is a great opportunity for the town to join together and celebrate the football club’s achievement.”

More details of the event will be released to the public throughout the next couple of weeks.
