The
Equality Scheme replaces the separate
equality schemes we had in place for race, gender and
disability. This approach enables us to bring together all our
policies and plans within one document and ensures that all
aspects of diversity including those currently not covered by
the law are addressed.
In developing this scheme we have consulted with partners,
stakeholders and our local communities. The Equality Scheme is
supported by a three year
Equality Action plan outlining our principal
equality actions for 2008-2011.
EQUALITY IMPACT ASSESSMENTS
We have a legal requirement to consider the impact of some aspects
of our work on race, gender and disability equality. In order to
meet this requirement we undertake Equality Impact Assessments
(EIA’s). Please refer to section 8 of the Equality Scheme for the
EIA form and
guidance.
