Waveney District Council’s licensing service deals with the processing and issuing of a wide range of licences and permits from animal welfare to street trading and zoos. Liquor, entertainment and late night refreshment licences are now also administered by the licensing service under the Licensing Act 2003 which came into force on 24^th November 2005.

The Law guides the Council on how a Licence should be issued, who should be consulted, the fee to be charged, the enforcement duties, offences and powers of entry. In many cases the Council can add to the Law by introducing conditions and bylaws. These are usually added to reflect unique local policy and circumstances over and above national requirements.
