Where will I find lifesaving equipment?
Waveney District Council provides and maintains lifesaving
equipment across the district, predominately in areas adjacent to
water. There are approximately 250 equipment stations in the
Waveney area. They are located on the seafront, along inland
waterways, at beaches, yacht stations and open spaces such as
parks.
What equipment is provided by the Council?
This equipment consists mainly of lifebelts and throw-bags, which
can be used in lifesaving situations on the water, to reach and
support those who find themselves in difficulty. It is therefore
important that this equipment is regularly inspected to ensure it
is in working order.
Equipment is checked on a weekly in the summer and fortnightly in
the winter, although the beach lifeguards at Lowestoft and
Southwold check their equipment on a daily basis.
How do I report a missing or damaged
lifebelt?
If you notice any damaged or broken equipment, please contact us
using the details below. Damaged or missing lifesaving equipment
will be either repaired or replaced within one working day of
reporting.
