Fishing

The Council owns and maintains three waters where angling is permitted. These are:
  • Beccles Quay (1st November to 14th March)
Weekend matches during this period are to subject to application and approval by the authority. Please contact Beccles Harbour master on 01502 712225 for further information.
  • Nicholas Everitt Park (adjacent to Oulton Broad)
  • Kirkley Fen Park
  • Slater’s Pond (off Monckton Avenue)
Other fisheries can be found at; As an angler it is most important for you to know that anyone aged 12 years or over who fishes for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England and Wales must have an Environment Agency Rod Fishing Licence.

A rod licence is a statutory requirement (in other words it is required by law) and entitles the licensee to use a rod and line to fish. Rod licences are issued by the Environment Agency. They differ from permits (often referred to as tickets or day tickets) which give permission to fish a particular water or waters and are issued by fishery owners, angling clubs and so on.

Rod licences can be purchased from any Post Office in England and Wales.

We remind all anglers that the Closed Season is 15th March to 15 June inclusive applies to Waveney-owned waters.

If you would like to talk about fishing in the district please contact Beccles Harbour master on 01502 712225.
