A Brief Introduction to Parks & Open Spaces

Parks & Open Spaces

Waveney District Council offers a wide range of services that aim to meet the needs of the community while enhancing the district as a tourist area. The Parks section manage and develop a wide range of green and open spaces, ranging from allotments and natural areas to sports grounds and play areas. It is our aim to provide clean, green and safe open space for the benefit and enjoyment of all.

Waveney’s parks provide high quality green space for both formal and informal recreation. They are the centre for events, sporting activities and various leisure pursuits for both the local community and tourists alike. Many of our parks feature beautiful landscapes and areas of historical interest, alongside modern play facilities and sports grounds.

Green spaces support an amazing range of habitats, including trees, grasslands and water features. Encouraging wildlife and biodiversity is an important part of the vision for parks and open spaces within Waveney.

Why not get involved in supporting the parks and horticulture in your neighbourhood? Friends Groups are always keen to welcome an extra pair of hands to help with a variety of tasks, from nature conservation to organising events. If you would like to find out more and want to get involved, please visit the Friends page of this website.
