Help With Securing Housing In The Private Sector

Homefinders Scheme

This scheme provides families with children the opportunity to move into a home of their choice. Everyone who qualifies for the scheme will have become homeless (or threatened with homeless) and will normally reside in the Waveney District area.

Rent Guarantee / Bond Scheme

The Council has now reached it's limit on the number of Guarantee Bonds available for this year

This is an agreement where a landlord agrees to let a property at an agreed rent. Payment of rent will be made direct to the landlord on condition the tenancy is extended for one year unless there is a breach in tenancy conditions.

This is not cash up front but a promise to pay the deposit at the end of the tenancy arrangement. It entails the council paying the proportion of deposit that that would be retained by the landlord save wear and tear. The full agreement sets out the obligations for applicants, landlord and the authority.

Shared Ownership

These schemes allow you to part buy/part rent a property.

Shared Ownership schemes are offered by at least two Housing Associations operating within the district, these are Flagship Housing Group and Orbit Housing Association. The information on the individual association web sites will explain how their schemes operate and what you will have to do to register your interest.

Please find below links to these organisations and for more detailed information on shared ownership.
