The Services Aim
Waveney District Council aim to collect your domestic refuse
efficiently and reliably. We will collect your refuse on the same
day every week, except where special arrangements are necessary for
bank holidays.
You can check when wheeled (3-bin recycling scheme) bins are
collected here.
How the service is provided?
We collect your refuse from the highway boundary of your
property. We provide you with a wheeled bin which you should leave
for emptying at the nearest accessible point to the highway, on
collection days.
You can get help on sorting your rubbish for recycling
here.
Where access to your property is difficult you may have to leave
your bin outside your property on collection day at a collection
point that we will help to designate. The same will apply if your
property is not adjacent to the highway, perhaps off a private
road.
Our Council's policy is to only collect the bin and empty its
contents. Any items left outside the bin ('Side Waste') cannot be
collected.
You should not leave your bin on the street for longer than
necessary before or after emptying.
We all have a 'duty of care' to deal with waste responsibly. This
applies to private householders and businesses alike.
If you need any advice on where to leave your wheeled bin or any
general enquiries about refuse collection please contact us on
(01502) 523460 .
Problems moving your bin?
If you are elderly or have a disability and find it difficult to
move your bin, we may be able to arrange help, with our Assisted
Collections service, that would mean you not being expected to put
your bin out. Find
out more about Assisted Collections
What about Bank Holidays?
We do collect on the following bank holiday days:
- Good Friday Bank Holiday
- Easter Bank Holiday Monday
- Early May Bank Holiday Monday
- Spring Bank Holiday Monday
- August Bank Holiday Monday
However, we do not collect on bank holidays over the
Christmas/New Year period. The days affected over this period
change each year and so we will tell you of our special
arrangements in the local press (Lowestoft and Beccles & Bungay
Journals and Waveney Advertiser). If we miss your collection we
will make a "double" collection at the next visit and collect two
weeks refuse.
