Missed Bin Collections

You’ve missed my bin

If we have missed your refuse or recycling bin, we apologise for any inconveniece this has caused.

Crews report wider issues on their return and it is possible that if other bins in your area have been collected, that your missed bin is an isolated incident.

There are number of factors that may affect the collection of your bin including.
  • You forgot to put your bin out, it was not fully visible or it was not placed at the nearest accessible point to the highway
  • Items placed in the bin made it too heavy to tip
  • The recyclable material in your bin was contaminated with non-recyclable items

Upon receiving a report of a missed collection, officers will investigate the reason and inform you of their findings and your options. If it is an ommission, we will return to your address to collect it within one working day of your call and there is no charge for this service.

What if the crew has encountered a problem?

On the rare occasion that the refuse service encounters a problem (e.g. severe weather or a vehicle breakdown) which interferres with collections, we will post details on our website as soon as possible (usually in the news section) and alert the local media.

After our own website, broadcast media such as BBC Radio Suffolk or Beach Radio are often best placed to assist us in getting information or updates out at short notice.
