Can I opt out of the scheme?
Yes, you can.
However if you do we will only collect your black bin every
2-weeks. As at present no side-waste will be collected.
Do I have to have both new bins?
No, if you do not have a garden you may feel that you do not need
to have a green bin. The choice is entirely up to you.
What day of the week will my waste be collected?
The
day of the week we collect your waste will be unaffected by the
scheme. For example, if your current collection is on a Monday, it
will stay on a Monday; Tuesday will remain Tuesday etc. The
List Of Roads page gives information concerning when each
colour of bin will be collected.
I already compost my garden/kitchen waste?
You
obviously may not feel you require a green bin, but the option will
be yours.
What will happen to our household waste?
Waste from
the black bins will still go to landfill. However the waste from
the green bin will be shredded and composted to produce a soil
improver. Waste from the blue bin will be sorted and recycled
appropriately.
What can I do to help?
Flatten cardboard boxes and
remove any waxed paper from inside the box. Rinse and squash cans.
Remove tops and squash plastic bottles
What will happen if I try the new system and then decide just to
have my black bin or the green and blue bins?
That will be no problem - just let us know and we will collect the
unwanted bin(s). However your collection will remain
fortnightly.
Can I put glass in the Blue Bin?
No - If possible glass should be taken to the Bring Sites.
What about Textiles/Shoes?
Once again, unfortunately we are unable to accept these in the Blue
Bin. They can of course be taken to the Bring Sites or your local
Charity Shop.
Why do I need three bins?
As we are going from a
weekly to a alternate week collection it is felt that you will
require additional capacity. The three bins system should provide
adequate storage space for each type of waste.
Will I be affected by the new multi-bin collection
scheme?
Please see attached details on composition of the streets involved
in the first wave.
What additional costs will this put on the residents of
Waveney?
The only cost to Waveney District Council's
residents will be the revenue costs for any additional freighter
drivers and crew providing the service.
Who is paying for all the extra bins and additional
freighters?
Suffolk County Council are covering all
the capital costs for the implementation of this
scheme.
