Our Aim for the Drainage Service:
The aim of Waveney District Council's Drainage Service
is to keep the drains in the district free flowing.
The Housing and Public Health Team can provide advice on the
resolution of problems relating to blocked or defective public
sewers and other private drainage systems, including septic tanks,
which are causing a nuisance or pollution. The Council's Operations
Team provide a service for the unblocking of private drains. Public
Sewers are the responsibility of Anglian Water.
What services are provided:
- Blocked Drains - High pressure jetting of
drainage pipes to remove blockages to private dwellings and
businesses. You can report a blocked drain online at
www.onesuffolk.co.uk/reportaproblem
- Drain Surveys - We carry out water pressure
tests to BS831 standard on drainage systems for house purchase
purposes.
- Blocked Sewers and Private Drains built before
1936 - Anglian Water should be contacted

- Gully Cleaning and Maintenance - 13,500
surface water drains cleaned and maintained each year in Lowestoft,
Corton, Lound, Blundeston, and Somerleyton. All other areas cleaned
and maintained by Suffolk County Council (Tel: 01728

- Cesspools and Septic Tanks - Pump out
household cesspools and septic tanks and, if required, jet out
pipes to tank.
- Drains - Jetting of household
drains.
We also have two tankers with drivers for hire:
- Whale Tanker - 2000 gallon capacity with high
pressure jetting facilities.
- Whale Tanker/Gully Emptier - 1200 gallon
capacity with high pressure jetting facilities and gully emptying
boom.
