Asbestos Disposal and Advice

Please do not attempt to do anything that disturbs asbestos. If you know it's there, be aware that it may be exposed inadvertently when carrying out renovation or extension work.

The most common ways that you can dispose of asbestos are, in order of safety:

  1. Hire a licensed, specialist company to remove it for you . Such companies advertise locally or in the Yellow Pages .
  2. Dismantle the structure yourself and engage a licensed waste contractor to dispose of the waste asbestos .
  3. Transport it yourself to a site licensed by the Environment Agency such as Wangford Landfill Site . You will need to double wrap the asbestos. You must also call them on 01502 578506 before you visit to advise them of:
    • The type of asbestos you wish to dispose of
    • The quantity you wish to bring and
    • Your intended delivery date

On receipt of the asbestos the site will make a charge for disposal based on its weight.
