Council Tax is a local tax that is used to help pay for the spending of local authorities and the police.
It is Waveney District Council's job to collect the tax on behalf of Suffolk County Council, the Suffolk Police Authority, the local Town or Parish Council and, of course, Waveney District Council.
Waveney District Council produces a joint information booklet with other local authorities in Suffolk. This booklet is sent to all Council Tax and Business Rate payers with their first bill of the financial year.

Council tax amounts for 2010/2011 by band and parish
The tax has two elements; a property part based on one of eight Council Tax bands, and a personal part.
A full Council Tax bill assumes two or more adults live in the property. If less than two adults live in the property, council tax for that property can be reduced.
If you think your Council Tax bill is wrong, tell us as soon as possible. Remember you must still keep your payments up to date until your appeal is decided.
If you think your Council Tax valuation band is wrong, you need to contact the Valuation Office Agency (VOA)
