Waveney District Council are performing a public consultation
prior to the introduction of new bylaws affecting Southwold
Harbour. The consultation is being undertaken so that we can
implement the most appropriate bylaws to deal with any issues that
occur in this area. In order to make sure that the bylaws we
introduce will be effective and are right for the Harbour we are
asking those who will be most affected to let us know what they
think of the proposals. The relevant documents
are:
These bylaws have been drawn up by Waveney District Council
together with the Harbourmaster. They are bespoke for Southwold and
hopefully deal with all the issues that affect the users of the
Harbour and the businesses which operate within its confines.
Many of the regulations and other controls that are currently in
place in relation to Southwold Harbour are now out dated, in some
cases they have been repealed and not replaced leaving the Harbour
open to abuse by a minority. It is hoped that the new bylaws will
put controls in place to allow the majority to continue to enjoy
the facilities at the Harbour.
When you have had an opportunity to read through these documents
please send any comments to Legal Department Waveney District

We will be holding a public meeting at 5pm at Southwold Sailing
Club on the 19th September and anyone who has an interest is
welcome to attend. People will be able to put any questions they
have about the new bylaws to council officers.
