Workshops and seminars for manufacturers
in the East of England
Organised by Cambridge University's Institute for
Manufacturing, as part of the Manufacturing Transformation
Programme (MTP), a series of workshops and seminars
are being held in the East of England for small and medium sized
manufacturers. The events will take place from
November 2009 to May 2010 and will cover:
- supply chain management
- demand management
- delivery performance
- new product introduction

East of England Development Agency (EEDA) ‘Beyond
2010’
Beyond 2010 is a new initiative to assist small to medium-sized
businesses in the East of England to give staff new skills to move
the business forward.
The project works alongside Train to
Gain to ensure that businesses can get the skills training that
they need. Businesses employing up to 250 staff can contact
specialist sector advisors who are able to discuss training needs
in detail and agree with the business which training course will
best meet their needs. Up to half of the cost of training is
available from EEDA and the
European
Social Fund.

(NWES)
NWES offer comprehensive training packages
carefully designed to meet a variety of needs, from start-up
companies to businesses who want to develop the skills of their

premises or off-site, or via their online learning suites.
The 'Inspiring Women's Enterprise' programme run by NWES offers
fully funded advice and training to women not currently in
employment, who are thinking about starting a new business or
looking to gain skills and build their confidence to return to
work.

Astral Centre
The Astral Centre is a state-of-the-art business and management
training centre located at Lowestoft College. Aimed at individuals,

Train to Gain
Train to Gain is a Government funded initiative that can help
established businesses within every industry get the skills and
training they need to succeed.
The Astral Centre at Lowestoft College has secured £700,000 of
skills funding to help companies get the training they need to stay

at level 2 and 3 in areas such as business, care, construction,
engineering, hospitality and catering, management and many
